New York City Dance Alliance Compettion

The American Dancers and the Jr. All American Dancers, the studio’s competition teams recently returned from the New York City Dance Alliance convention and competitions with awards. The dancers competed with over 600 hundred other dancers November 10 in Burbank California and once again put San Luis Obispo on the map. Congratulations to all dancers.

Katlan Merril successfully auditioned and was accepted into the New York City Dance Alliance Summer Dance Intensive Program.

Pop Muzik - choreographed by Suzy Miller and directed by Leslie Baumberger - received the Critics Choice Award, the top award of the entire competition.

New York City Dance Competition Results

American Dancers and Jr. All American Dancers under the direction of Leslie Baumberger and Suzy Miller returned recently from NYC with top awards.

Tremaine Dance Competition “Catch the Fever” was held at the Grand Hyatt in Manhattan, NYC and the dancers from American Dance of SLO certainly did just that. Ten dances competed with other dancers from the east coast and each dance placed in the top of their categories.

High Point Score (99 out of 100) and Best of Show Award, $1,000 cash award went to Rhythm of the Heat, choreography by Suzy Miller and directed by Leslie Baumberger.

“This is a fantastic way to finish a successful year of dance competitions and performances and everyone is looking forward to next year and new choreography,” said Ms. Baumberger. “This has been one of my best groups I have had in over 30 years teaching and I can’t wait for next year.”

Joe Tremaine, Director of Tremaine Dance said, “These dancers are well trained in both ballet and jazz , as well as being believable, professional performers. These are some of the best dancers we have seen all year. We are always excited when American Dance of SLO attends our convention because they always bring exciting and interesting choreography and we can’t wait to see what they bring next time.”
